At this year’s BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland, the London based house heavyweight delivered a performance that felt less like a standard festival slot and more like a widescreen release of modern UK dance culture at peak capacity.
From the opening moments, the energy was euphoric, rolling basslines, hands permanently in the air and thousands of ravers locked into the same pulse. Radio 1’s Dance Party opening night already carried serious weight with names like Fatboy Slim, FISHER and MK stacked across the bill, but Sonny Fodera’s set arrived with a different type of momentum, emotional, vocal-driven and completely tuned into where house music currently lives culturally.
